For those of us who still fetishize a beautifully designed CD sleeve, this interview with Jason Pierce and designer Mark Farrow is a great read.
A new one, again for the wee hours. Mixed by Levent.
Brilliant new album – released today – by the always interesting Four Tet, aka Kieran Hebden. Gorgeous artwork, too. Also highly recommended is his entry into the LateNightTales canon. Check it out here. It’s a wonderfully eclectic mix of sounds and styles, including everything from Rahsaan Roland Kirk to Fairport Convention to Tortoise to the incredible, ethereal Linda Perhacs.
Hi. You might have noticed a few changes around here. There are more to come.
I’ve finally decided to give this site a bit of a makeover and upgrade. I’ve opened up the hood and greased and tuned everything up and given it a new paint job. It’s definitely, as always, a work in progress, so if anything looks quirky, chances are I’m doing some work on it at the moment.
Meanwhile, I’ve decided, from here on out, to do away with the “DIRECT MP3 DOWNLOAD” option for now. Subscribing to the podcast will deliver the full 192kbps file to your computer anyway. We’re also going to be embedding a Soundcloud version of each new show to the home page so you’ll be able to take a quick listen. I’m busy brainstorming some more ideas – like an “album of the month” feature, or a link to a particularly amazing discovery on the web, so these blog updates won’t be limited strictly to new mixes. Any suggestions are definitely welcome!
Meanwhile, thanks to everyone – contributors and listeners – for digging what we’re doing here! Big things in 2010!
